About Indalo Our Story

Zelda Bam The Indalo Story

In late 2020, amidst COVID lockdowns and after two decades abroad, I returned to South Africa with my husband and our two boys to begin an exciting new chapter in Plettenberg Bay.

After years spent in finance in London and raising our young family, I was ready for a fresh challenge—something creative, rooted in community, and close to home. That’s when by chance I found and fell in love with Indalo.

I was immediately drawn to Indalo’s organic charm, distinctive style, and heartfelt presence at the Old Nick Village. It felt like stepping into something truly special—and it was clear from the beginning that this was meant to be.

Taking the reins from the wonderful Francis Orzechowski — who founded Indalo over fifteen years ago — has been both an honour and a source of deep inspiration. Francis has been a guiding light, dear friend, and generous mentor.

Today, I’m proud to carry forward Indalo’s legacy and feeling, while bringing in my own creative handwriting — introducing new fabrics, silhouettes, and designs that speak to the effortless elegance of coastal living. My goal is to capture the true soul and feeling of the Plettenberg Bay lifestyle: relaxed yet refined, connected to nature, and grounded in authenticity.

Alongside longstanding favourites like Soul® and Just Cruizin®, the Indalo ranges aim to reflect this vision—seasonal pieces that feel at home on sunlit verandas, sandy footpaths, lazy river cruises and seaside strolls.

As Indalo evolves, I always love hearing from our customers — whether in the shop, online, or over a cup of coffee. Your stories, ideas, and love for this brand help shape what comes next, and look forward to taking the Indalo feeling forward together.
